Sarah no worries sure there will be a way :)
Yes Gaussian Blur will be the answer..... just the easy peezy lemon squeezy way ;) promise!! let me talk you through.
Okay I use this method with Gaussian blur on most of my skies and where there is noise in common places such as shadows the only thing is I have CS2 and am unsure if Photoshop 5.5 uses Masks ( in order to be selective on where the blur is applied ) not to worry if it does not we can do a work around ;)
SOooo
Layer, Duplicate Layer
Filter, Blur, Gaussian Blur
Slide Radius between 2.0 and 4.0 dont worry to much about this as you can adjust opacity later
Now lets assume you do not have the Mask facility for now so simply remove the blur to area you wish to keep sharp with the Eraser tool then play with the opacity of the upper Layer to remove some of the worst noise being careful not to overdo things ;)
That easy! let us know how you get on Sarah sounds like you have a winner file there so lets see if we can save it!
