Tano, how did you get out of what Achilles said that he meant that one shouldn't wait to *upload*? it doesn't read like that at all. it reads like images can be made exclusive right now - and i'm obviously not the only one who interpreted it that way. in fact, i don't see any other way in which it could be interpreted.
no relationship - personal, business, or otherwise - can work without clear communication. could we get some here pleeeeeeeease? thank you thank you... |

There are several threads floating around about this. If you read them all then you will be able to understand the situation clearly. I know that's not ideal, but there are some language issues here, with not everyone speaking english as their first language. You need to be patient.
In answer to your question, Plaintiger... Tano is an admin, so he understands completely. MY understanding is this:
- After March 15, you can upload images and mark them as exclusive to get the bonus
- After March 15, images already online can also be marked as exclusive and receive the bonus
- So, uploading images now is fine, because after March 15 you will be able to mark those ones which are exclusive, whether this be just a few or your entire portfolio
I'm sure an admin can correct me if any of this is incorrect.

Hiya Tiger. Love your artistic statement;-) Please understand that not everyone here is a native English speaker, and that sometimes it is difficult for absolute clear communication. Especially right now when administration is still listening to the members to put just the right frosting on the cake. Like, fer shur bro, you know what I mean? However, I have trouble speaking anything but English, and I can tell you in plain English that the intentions of Dreamstime administration will always be in your best interest, and that nobody on this site will pull any funny business with you.
The way that Tano "got that" from Achilles' statement is that the guys are hammering this out and know what their plans are--your success. The first statement made by Achilles was just that, a first statement to present to the community way in advance of any concrete changes, and to give the community a chance to respond.
I'm also a site administrator, and I apologize for not watching this forum more closely and jumping in to clear up questions that involve language communications. As it stands right now, don't stop uploading, and rest assured that if Tano has stated you will get your credit for uploading exclusive files before March 15, you will get what he says you will get.
I'm not the official cheerleader of Dreamstime, just blown away by how deeply this administration cares about their members, and stunned that our Achilles knows each and every one of us and never stops working to keep us together as a community. |

aha! thank you very much, Stuartkey. that is crystal-clear to me. and i suspected there might be language issues at work here, but i didn't want to suggest it in case i was mistaken (how embarrassing would *that* be? :D ).
i will try to be patient as you suggest. my English is very near perfect, but my patience could withstand more than a little improvement. the practice will - i hope - do me good.

thank You, Ms. Sophieso. whether the admins have our best interests at heart was never a question for me - only whether we could designate files as being exclusive at the present time. i think i'm clear enough on that now.

Okay, this is cool, this is fun, this is what Dreamstime is looking for--community.
Thank you Stuartkey for being so crystal clear, and for not biting my head off for misspelling your name the first time around. The old noodle doesn't function too well at 3 a.m. And thank you Tiger for hanging in there and bringing up points that make things more clear for all of us. The compliment didn't hurt much either:-) I didn't think that your questions had anything to do wtih not trusting Dreamstime, but I am always looking for an opportunity to throw in what a very unique group of administrators we have here. I've always liked Dreamstime because the range of images is broader, and they've always pushed me to be better with my photography. Since I've become a site administrator I spend most of my time saying, "Huh? Really? They honestly care that much about their members?" It's been an education for me in the practice of human kindness and respect.
Jonesmarc, as far as I know, the images will still sell for the same price, you just get a higher portion of the profits. Pretty cool, huh. But there are also the new licensing contracts to take into consideration. When those kick in, each of us has the opportunity for the sale of a single image that could make us a LOT of money.
Dreamstime is quickly becoming more than just a microstock site. It's becoming an agency that will represent us with many different licensing plans, and do for us what we can't do for ourselves. |

P.S. Tiger, I'd love to start a new forum under the "General" section about finding models and working with them. I had 4 models cancel this weekend, and I know I'm not the only one always dealing with model questions, frustrations, and wanting to do better. Sometimes the biggest problem is where to find them and how much to pay, if there's any pay involved at all. Meet you over there? |

Sorry to post this here, but I noticed that you guys had mentioned "models". Now, this may be a totally STUPID question; I am new at all this and just doing micro stock......
Sooooo, with only selling images for .50 commissions, and not having family members who are willing to model for me, how in the world does one find ANYONE willing to be used in concepts that involve human beings???? I have TONS and TONS of great ideas (I think they are great anyway! lol) and I don't have anyone willing to help me.
So Sophieso (and everyone else), when you first started, what did you do?
If this needs to be a new thread we can move it; I can start a new one or someone else can:-)

I'm interested in this feature...I want to bet only on a stock agency and DT's right for me. In wich way I can become exclusive? For up rights, they're are applicable for the new upload and not for just upped file isn't it?

Doesn't it make a lot of sense to spend more time shooting and learning new skills than uploading all over the place? I know everybody has their own business plan, but mine is pretty simple--shoot better in the camera, then use Photoshop to create magic.....not fix my mistakes. I can't do that if I'm spending hours on end uploading.
Besides, I'm going to stay right here and try to shoot as good as the rest of your guys. Ha! Shoot so good Vogue will be begging all of us to work for them. Okay, so I get carried away sometimes:-) |
