Both Canon and Nikon are good, competetive brands, as are sigma, pentax olympus etc... My advise would be to look past what you intend to buy now and look at what you want to upgrade to, as with DSLRs you buy into the brand, i.e. once you've bought a Canon you buy Canon specific accessories and generally stick with Canon (or whatever brand you chose to begin with). Questions to ask would be, What is the average lens quality like? Is the good glass expensive? (generally canon is cheaper than nikon for similar lenses, but some will argue that nikons lenses are optically better) What is the next body like? etc You can't really go wrong with any of the major brands, I would stick with either Canon or Nikon as there are more accessories available. The only real pitfall with Nikon is that the D40/D40x bodies will only autofocus with the cheaper lenses - the professional lenses wont autofocus with the D40/D40x Hope this helps a little... posted in Which camera ?? .......again
