When I was 13, my dad bought me a guitar..It was all refinished and had my initials on it..I liked it much better than the earlier accordian that was hurting my back..hated that thing. Sometimes, I wish it was a piano..my mom played that well. When I saw how the girls loved the band members playing at our school sock hop, I decided to learn how to play some kind of instrument. Mostly, all the songs were instrumentals..vocalists were unheard of then..bands didn't even have microphones..I knew I could sing though and singing harmony came naturally to me. My first few months of practicing playing the guitar were painful..the fingers would hurt and the back would freeze in place all hunkered over for hours. As it was, I had a terrible hayfever allergy and couldn't even go out and play with the other kids.
Now, 50 years later, I wish I had it all to do again. I would have stuck with the keyoards. Who knew they would be light and easily hung over the shoulder, plugged into massive speakers and able to imitate any sound known to man.
